I had my first website designed for me (yes, I haven’t always been a web designer or an expert in digital marketing). And naturally I thought you could put a website up and the hoards would come (shock horror, I know). Given this was back in the mid 2000’s so Google wasn’t quite so flooded as it is now.
And guess what? Crickets! From their I googled how to get more traffic to my website and the likes.
Remember this was pre social media too so digital marketing consisted of your website, e-newsletters, and Google Ads. Otherwise you were driving traffic through magazine ads which I tried too. But being young and a tad naïve if I’m being honest, I got completely taken for a ride by the sales rep’s dangling carrot. 😉
I saw the light aka SEO
Along the way I came across this foreign concept (at the time) called search engine optimisation.
As I learnt more and more about it and started seeing the positive results my website was having, I delved into SEO more. I found I was loving SEO more than my actual business. And hello She Rocks VA (virtual assistant). Combing my love for SEO with my strong admin background I thought would be a fabulous combination.
As I worked in SEO on more and more client sites, I became frustrated that web design and SEO still didn’t go hand in hand. Hello, upskilling in web design and a slight rebrand and She Rocks Digital was founded.
We proudly support local not-for-profit Tasmanian Iconic Walks
We have been supporting Tasmanian Iconic Walks since its inception in 2017. It’s a cause close to my heart as TIW supports stroke prevention.
TIW’s founder, Jo Cordell-Cooper, who was my first She Rocks client with her PT business, approached me regarding their website and logo. Jo had no idea, but my dad actually had a stroke back in 2008. So, I was happy to jump on board and help. And I happily donated their logo and first website to help get them started.
Since then, I’ve continued to support and work with Tasmanian Iconic Walks on each of their amazing events.
