I wasn’t always a web designer or digital marketing expert.
Once upon a time, I was you - staring at my first shiny new website, thinking the floodgates would open and customers would come rolling in. Spoiler: they didn’t. Crickets.
It was the mid-2000s - before social media, before algorithms ruled the world. Back then, digital marketing was your website, an e-newsletter, and maybe a Google Ad or two. The rest? You hoped a magazine ad and a dream would do the trick.
So, like any determined business owner, I hit Google searching for how to get more traffic. And, well… let’s just say there were some hard lessons (and a few too-good-to-be-true sales pitches) along the way.
But that’s where the real learning began. Because once I understood how digital marketing actually works - strategy, SEO, aligned content, and cohesive branding - everything changed.
I saw the light aka SEO
Somewhere along the way, I stumbled across this mysterious little thing called search engine optimisation. At first, it felt like a foreign language, but the more I learned - and the more my website started showing results - the more hooked I became.
I realised I was enjoying SEO even more than my own business. That’s when She Rocks VA was born: combining my love for SEO with a strong admin background felt like the perfect match.
But here’s the kicker - the more I worked on client sites, the more frustrated I got. Web design and SEO were still playing in separate worlds, and that just didn’t sit right. So I upskilled in web design, rebranded, and She Rocks Digital came to life - bringing strategy, design, and SEO together under one roof.
